The milk producers of São Miguel are facing a situation described as dramatic, afraid of losing 15 million euros. Unileite, a dairy cooperative, announced a reduction of two cents per liter in the milk price paid to producers, which takes effect in September. The calculations that make it possible to estimate the financial impact of 15 million euros were made one day after the price reduction announcement. The island of São Miguel is one of the main milk-producing regions in the Azores, where the dairy sector represents a fundamental economic activity.
