The Rio Prefecture began, this Saturday, a new phase of the Southwest Zone Mobility Plan with two work fronts on Avenida Ayrton Senna, the main connection between Barra da Tijuca and Jacarepaguá. The interventions include the expansion of the bridge over the Arroio Fundo Channel, which will have the number of lanes expanded from four to six in the direction of Linha Amarela, and the reconfiguration of the merge lanes between Casa Shopping and Via Parque Shopping to guarantee a continuous third lane on the avenue.

With an investment of R$ 46.9 million, the works have a forecast duration of two years and are part of a package of six interventions aimed at improving mobility in Barra da Tijuca, Barra Olímpica, Recreio dos Bandeirantes and Jacarepaguá.

The plan was launched in January by the Municipal Secretariat of Infrastructure and has as its main objective to decongest traffic in the southwest region of the city, which presents high congestion rates mainly during peak hours.

Milk producers on São Miguel, in the Azores, express great concern over the industry's intention to reduce milk prices by the end of the year, which could result in losses of approximately 15 million euros for the sector. The drop in prices puts the economic viability of the island's dairy farms at risk, which already face high production costs.
