Tiago Cabaço Winery Secures Spot in National Semi-Final of the New 7 Wonders

Rádio Campanário29 August 2026 at 19:30

The Tiago Cabaço Winery in Estremoz secured on August 29th a place in the national semi-final of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal, after being chosen as a regional finalist in the 21st Century category, in the last regional final dedicated to Alentejo and Ribatejo. The initiative took place at Jardim das Portas do Sol in Santarém, bringing together candidate projects from the region for a day dedicated to the enhancement of heritage, culture and territories.

The winery, located in Estremoz, presents itself as a space where wine, architecture and landscape meet. The construction, in the shape of a half-moon and partially buried, seeks to preserve the freshness needed for production and establish a harmonious relationship with the Alentejo landscape. The tasting room has a large glazed area with a privileged view over the vineyard, with Estremoz castle, Serra d'Ossa and the castle of Evoramonte as a backdrop.

More than a wine production space, the Tiago Cabaço Winery positions itself as a meeting place between wine and the territory. The contemporary architecture was designed to reflect the producer's connection to the land and provide visitors with an experience of discovery and knowledge of wine, in a journey where the different stages associated with production are presented.

With the passage to the semi-final, the project now heads to Sintra, where next Saturday it will once again compete with the goal of advancing to the next phase and continuing to assert Estremoz on the national scene. This classification represents an important recognition for the Alentejo municipality and for a project that combines wine, architecture, landscape and regional identity.

Trump closes the immigration tap and American fast food begins to feel the lack of customers

The restrictive immigration policies adopted in the United States are deeply affecting the fast food industry, with customer traffic declining in almost every month of 2025 and 2026. According to the Financial Times and the Brookings Institution, net immigration was negative for the first time in at least half a century, with nearly three million people leaving the country. This data is particularly relevant for the sector since 35% of Hispanics in the US consume fast food daily. Companies like McDonald's, Wendy's and Subway have already started adjusting their expansion plans, with the burger chain slowing new openings and the other two closing hundreds of establishments. Jack in the Box and Wingstop also attributed the sales decline to reduced consumption among Latino customers, suggesting that part of the industry may have bet on population growth that is no longer occurring.
