The village of Fermentões, in the municipality of Guimarães, hosts from September 3 to 5 the traditional "Festa do Agricultor" (Farmer's Festival), which marks the first weekend of September. The event starts on Friday, the 3rd, and continues throughout the entire weekend, celebrating the rural traditions of the region.

The festival program includes several activities that pay homage to country life and local culture. Among the highlights are the challenge singing, a traditional form of Portuguese singing, and a folklore festival showcasing regional dances and music.

The event also features a cattle parade, bringing together animals from the region, and a horse race, an attraction set to bring together enthusiasts of this equestrian sport. These activities are joined by an ethnographic procession that walks through the village streets showcasing local traditions and customs.

The Farmer's Festival of Fermentões is part of a tradition of celebrating rural life and agricultural work, keeping alive the cultural manifestations that characterize this area of the Braga district.

Everything is the same thing

This opinion article reflects on the growing inability to distinguish concepts and names, exemplified by a child who called a dolphin a "flamingo" and by a supermarket worker who confused ginger with eggplant. The author argues that this "vocabulary and cultural impoverishment" results from the decline in reading and interest, citing Irene Vallejo and Gregorio Luri to defend that reading strengthens language and that school failure is fundamentally a linguistic failure. It concludes that "it's the same thing" represents a closure into ignorance, where even distinct concepts are reduced to vaguely similar categories.
