A new album featuring unreleased recordings by Cesária Évora will be released in October, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the death of the renowned Cape Verdean singer. The album, titled "Reina da Morna," brings previously unpublished material.
A first preview of the album has been made available: the song "Sonsente," which can be heard through the link accompanying the article. This is the first time new material from the artist has reached the public since her passing.
Cesária Évora gained international recognition as the "Barefoot Diva," considered one of the most distinctive voices in African music. The Cape Verdean artist passed away in December 2011 at the age of 78.
The album's release comes as a way to celebrate the musical legacy of the interpreter of classics such as "Saudade, Saudade" and "Miss Perfumado," 15 years after her death.
