Jornal Santa Marinha29 August 2026 at 11:54

The Municipality of Seia will ensure the financing of the tuition fees for the Higher Professional Technical Courses (CTeSP) taught at the School of Tourism and Hospitality (ESTH), through a protocol established with the Polytechnic University of Guarda. In the academic year 2026/27, ESTH will offer nine CTeSP, covering areas such as tourism, catering, hospitality, laboratory analysis, digital communication, risks and civil protection and gerontology.

The second phase of applications runs until September 16, 2026, on the university's portal. The educational offer includes courses such as Wine Tourism, Tourism Product Management and Marketing, Kitchen and Food Production, Wine and Gastronomy and Tourist Accommodation Management, seeking to meet the needs of qualification and the labor market, with particular relevance for tourism and hospitality in the Serra da Estrela.

The support covers students residing and not residing in the municipality, not being limited to the residents of Seia. The reference value of the annual tuition fee is 600 euros per student, being co-funded by the municipality. The measure aims to facilitate access to higher education, attract new students, reinforce the educational offer and consolidate the presence of higher education in Seia.

The CTeSP are higher education courses of a professional nature, with a strong practical component, oriented towards the acquisition of specialized skills and for access to the labor market, also allowing the continuation of studies.

Trump closes the immigration tap and American fast food begins to feel the lack of customers

The restrictive immigration policies adopted in the United States are deeply affecting the fast food industry, with customer traffic declining in almost every month of 2025 and 2026. According to the Financial Times and the Brookings Institution, net immigration was negative for the first time in at least half a century, with nearly three million people leaving the country. This data is particularly relevant for the sector since 35% of Hispanics in the US consume fast food daily. Companies like McDonald's, Wendy's and Subway have already started adjusting their expansion plans, with the burger chain slowing new openings and the other two closing hundreds of establishments. Jack in the Box and Wingstop also attributed the sales decline to reduced consumption among Latino customers, suggesting that part of the industry may have bet on population growth that is no longer occurring.
