The Municipality of Bragança is preparing the "Living the Walls" program, an integrated strategy to enhance the value of the Castle and Citadel of the city. The initiative aims to improve how this historic space is experienced by residents, traders and visitors, intervening in areas such as traffic and parking, mobility, public space, tourist reception, commerce, crafts and cultural programming.
Among the solutions under study are the creation of connections through small electric vehicles between the city center, the parking lots and the Castle. On weekends, a connection is planned through the Tourist Train between the Bus Station and the Citadel. The objective is to reduce car traffic within the walls without compromising access for residents and essential services.
The program also includes the creation of a regular craft and local products market, the improvement of signage, lighting and resting areas, as well as greater coordination between the existing cultural facilities within the walls.
Before implementing the measures, the Municipality intends to hear from residents, traders and other entities, testing the solutions through a pilot project. The first meeting of the working group is scheduled for September 11.
O Município de Bragança está a preparar o programa “Viver as Muralhas”, uma estratégia integrada para valorizar o Castelo e a Cidadela e melhorar a forma como este espaço é vivido por residentes, comerciantes e visitantes.
A iniciativa pretende intervir em áreas como o trânsito e estacionamento, mobilidade, espaço público, acolhimento turístico, comércio, artesanato e programação cultural, procurando reduzir a pressão automóvel dentro das muralhas sem comprometer o acesso dos moradores e dos serviços essenciais.
Entre as soluções em estudo está a criação de ligações através de pequenos veículos elétricos entre o centro da cidade, os parques de estacionamento e o Castelo. Está também prevista, aos fins de semana, uma ligação através do Comboio Turístico entre a Estação Rodoviária e a Cidadela.
O programa contempla ainda a criação de um mercado regular de artesanato e produtos locais, a melhoria da sinalética, iluminação e espaços de estadia, bem como uma maior articulação entre os equipamentos culturais existentes dentro das muralhas.
Antes da implementação das medidas, o Município pretende ouvir residentes, comerciantes e outras entidades e testar as soluções através de um projeto-piloto. A primeira reunião do grupo de trabalho está marcada para 11 de setembro.
