Alentejo 2030 provides 10 million for infrastructure reinforcement

Observador28 August 2026 at 16:17

The Alentejo 2030 program will make 10 million euros available for infrastructure reinforcement in the Alentejo region. This funding line aims to support projects that contribute to the region's economic and business development.

Municipal councils and intermunicipal communities in the region can apply for this funding. The application period runs until September 30, setting this date as the deadline for interested parties.

The financial support comes from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which covers up to 85% of eligible project costs. This funding rate allows municipalities and intermunicipal communities to co-finance a reduced portion of the required investment.

The projects covered by this funding line include the creation and expansion of business areas and incubators. This measure aims to boost the Alentejo economic fabric, offering favorable conditions for the establishment and growth of companies in the region.

US Access to Venezuelan Oil Not Expected to Impact Market in Short Term

The agreement announced by President Donald Trump granting US access to over 65 billion barrels of oil in Venezuela is not expected to generate immediate effects on the world market. According to experts, the impact on gasoline prices in the short term remains uncertain, as the construction and modernization of the infrastructure needed to produce, transport, and refine Venezuelan heavy oil will take a long time. The agreement, negotiated with interim President Delcy Rodríguez, could attract up to $100 billion in private investments, and Venezuela has the largest known oil reserves in the world, estimated at about 303 billion barrels.

Trump closes the immigration tap and American fast food begins to feel the lack of customers

The restrictive immigration policies adopted in the United States are deeply affecting the fast food industry, with customer traffic declining in almost every month of 2025 and 2026. According to the Financial Times and the Brookings Institution, net immigration was negative for the first time in at least half a century, with nearly three million people leaving the country. This data is particularly relevant for the sector since 35% of Hispanics in the US consume fast food daily. Companies like McDonald's, Wendy's and Subway have already started adjusting their expansion plans, with the burger chain slowing new openings and the other two closing hundreds of establishments. Jack in the Box and Wingstop also attributed the sales decline to reduced consumption among Latino customers, suggesting that part of the industry may have bet on population growth that is no longer occurring.
