Radical amusement park roller coaster in the US is closed after two women suffer brain hemorrhages

The X2 roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Santa Clarita, California (USA) was closed after two women suffered similar brain hemorrhages while riding the attraction. Both victims rode the roller coaster six days apart.

The X2 is a high-speed "4D" roller coaster with nearly vertical drops and seats that rotate independently, spinning passengers around. Opened in 2002, the attraction was voted "Roller Coaster of the Year" and is very popular among park-goers and avid fans, as well as influencers who often record videos on the attraction.

The two women lost consciousness after riding the X2 and required surgery due to brain hemorrhages, described as the type "typically associated with high-speed collisions." Three neurosurgeons who treated the patients stated that the brain injuries were severe and required neurosurgical care.
