7 unmissable free programs this weekend, with shows, circus, urban art and popular culture

The free programming this weekend (August 28 to 30) in Rio de Janeiro features several cultural options. Museu do Pontal is holding a two-day festival with a free van departing from the metro and a show by Lia de Itamaracá. Meanwhile, Petrobras Futuros is celebrating its new name with a party featuring Uaná System, a project that blends carimbó and electronic music.

Museu Nacional is hosting circus performances and samba circles, while simultaneously closing the exhibition by Vik Muniz composed of works made from ash from the fire that struck the museum. The National Mathematics Festival offers games and educational activities, while the Harmonia Festival at Lagoa combines gastronomy and musical shows.

MAM hosts Arte Core, a festival dedicated to urban culture that returns after five years, bringing together visual arts and other expressions such as skateboarding. The event is curated by Derek Mangabeira.

In September, the Projeto Aquarius returns to Praça Mauá with free shows by Emicida, Leci Brandão, and the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra. During the weekend, the Rio Gastronomia event features performances by Samuel Rosa, Ferrugem, D2, Pretinho da Serrinha, among other artists.
