The Constitution and Justice Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro approved on Tuesday (the 15th) Bill 1,544/2023, which proposes increasing the values of food and transport allowances for civil police officers in the state. The proposal provides that the food allowance increases to R$80 per day and the transport allowance to R$600 per month.
According to the July edition of the State Government's Compensation Notebook, employees of the State Military Police Secretariat currently receive a food allowance of R$32 per day, equivalent to R$704 monthly, and a transport allowance of R$350 per month, values significantly lower than those proposed in the project.
The text of the project also establishes that civil police officers will be compensated by salary, allowances and bonuses established by law, taking into consideration the importance and risks inherent to the activity, the nature and complexity of the assignments, in addition to the degree of responsibility of the functions performed.
The proposal also ensures the payment of health hazard pay, disability assistance and sick leave assistance to civil police officers, in addition to addressing issues related to the regulation of other employment benefits.
