The president of the Medical Association, Carlos Cortes, defended that it is necessary to move from words to action in the National Health Service (NHS). This statement comes in the context of debates about working conditions and the functioning of the Portuguese public health system.
Carlos Cortes also expressed the conviction that the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, likes and believes in the NHS. This statement comes as a personal acknowledgment by the president regarding the holder of the Health portfolio.
The president highlighted that doctors and other health professionals want to work in the NHS. However, he warned that these professionals need to have adequate conditions to carry out their duties properly in the public health system.
