A new left-wing party is coming in Portugal, presenting itself with "democratic radicalism." The party will be officially presented this Wednesday at a press conference, but some details about its trajectory are already known.
One of those responsible for the provisional commission of the new party, Paula Marques, explained the motivations for its creation. According to Paula Marques, "the left, in general, distanced itself from day-to-day life and the difficulties in people's and families' lives."
The new party intends to be a "combative" force in the Portuguese political landscape, emerging in response to what its founders consider to be a distancing of traditional left from the concrete concerns of citizens.
The project thus emerges as an attempt to fill a space that its creators understand is not being occupied by the existing left-wing parties in Portugal, whose electoral performance is referred to as a reflection of this distancing.
