The Portuguese National Health Service celebrated its 47th anniversary. António Luz Pereira, vice-president of the General and Family Medicine Association, made an assessment of the NHS's performance, pointing out some positive points.
According to the official, the NHS invests a significant amount of financial resources annually, although a large portion of this funding is directed towards responding to disease rather than prevention.
António Luz Pereira defended the need to invest in measures that promote a healthier population, suggesting a change in the way resources are allocated in the Portuguese health system.
