Almeirim expects to build 566 new homes by 2036

Correio do Ribatejo15 September 2026 at 17:04

The Almeirim City Council approved the Municipal Housing Charter, a document that establishes the guiding principles for the municipality's housing policy in the coming years. The proposal was approved at an extraordinary meeting of the municipal executive.

The plan provides for the construction of 566 new homes by 2036. Thus, 306 homes will be built through direct promotion by the municipality, while the remaining 260 will be built through partnerships with housing and construction cooperatives.

The approved document now goes for consideration, discussion and voting at the Municipal Assembly, which is the deliberative body responsible for validating the housing strategy defined by the executive.

Why this matters

Residents of Almeirim directly benefit from this housing plan, which aims to meet the growing housing needs in the municipality. Approval by the Municipal Assembly will be the next step for the concrete implementation of these homes, which will have an impact on the local real estate market and the population's quality of life.
