An investigation conducted by a German think tank revealed that female lawmakers from European Union countries are 33 times more targeted than their male colleagues on deepfake pornography websites. The investigation identified 138 European female lawmakers who were targeted by this type of content.
The study demonstrates a significant disparity in the exposure of female lawmakers to this type of digital crime, compared to their male colleagues in the European Parliament.
This investigation came to light on the same day that the Manhattan district attorney announced the largest seizure of deepfake pornography websites in US history.
