The Minister of Education argues that increasing the number of students per class does not compromise teaching quality. This position comes in response to the situation observed in schools in the Lisbon municipality, where many students remained without a school placement.
Students who had not yet secured a place were integrated into existing classes in schools in the municipality of Lisbon. This solution was adopted to resolve the placement problem for these students.
As a result of this integration, some classes began operating with a number of students exceeding what is provided for by current legislation. The measure aims to ensure that all students have access to education, even under conditions that exceed the established legal limits.
