A new association led by the vice-president of the Barreiro city council has come up with a proposal to address the need for hundreds of thousands of houses in Portugal. The association proposes an "innovative model" for housing construction.
The presented model does not rely on public debt to finance the construction of houses. Instead, it transfers the financial risk to the private operators involved in the project.
The initiative comes in a context of significant housing need in the country, where hundreds of thousands of new homes are needed. This association's proposal aims to be an alternative to traditional state financing models.
The leadership of this association is in the hands of the vice-president of the Barreiro municipal council, who presents this project as a solution to address the housing deficit without compromising public finances.
