The Municipality of Mealhada revealed that it will bring artists such as Capicua, Marcantonio Del Carlo, Akira Yoshida and Lali Ayguadé to the stage of the Cineteatro Municipal Messias until December, in a programming that aims to affirm the municipality as a cultural destination. The Mayor, António Jorge Franco, stated that there has been a very large cultural progression in recent years and that courage is needed to set up this type of cultural structure, considering it an added value for the Centro region, the Metropolitan Region of Coimbra and the Bairrada region.
Deputy Mayor Filomena Pinheiro stressed that this is an ambitious programming that reflects a strategy built over time and that is beginning to bear fruit, being the realization of a dream they had when they ran in 2021, to position Mealhada as a cultural center. The September to December programming includes music, theater, dance, cinema, visual arts, proposals for families and babies, conversations, workshops and artistic creation.
Among the highlights are the theater piece "A Pérola" by Companhia da Esquina, staged on Saturday, and "Mozartini" for babies the following day. Vítor Sá presents the stand up comedy show "Arraial" on October 2nd, while Akira Yoshida and Lali Ayguadé take the stage on October 9th. Capicua is one of the major musical bets, arriving in Mealhada on October 24th, and Marcantonio Del Carlo performs solo on October 18th.
Programmer Carlos Veríssimo explained that the "Fora de Portas" program will bring performances to the parishes of Casal Comba, Canedo, Barcouço and Pampilhosa, with the participation of Os Mochos no Telhado, Ricardo Falcão and Ritual de Domingo. The programming also extends to the Convent of Santa Cruz do Bussaco with the "Na Rota do Peregrino" project dedicated to early music, covering schools, associations and local communities through workshops, debates, training and meetings with specialists.
