The United States Armed Forces revealed on Monday (15) that it possesses weapons in space. The statement was made by Air Force Secretary Troy Meink during a conference of the Air and Space Forces Association in Maryland. Meink stated that the United States now has space control weapons in orbit, capable of defending joint forces against hostile actions from adversaries.
The American government justified the presence of these weapons by saying that China develops space and counterspace capabilities as part of a military modernization strategy. Additionally, it alleged that Russia views space as a war domain and believes space supremacy will be a decisive factor in future conflicts.
In response, China called on Washington to stop preparing for war in outer space. Through a Foreign Ministry spokesperson, China urged the United States to halt the expansion of its military capabilities in space.
