The Vila Urbana Trail returns on October 10th to the center of Ponte de Lima, an initiative organized by the Minho e Lima Trail Association with the support of the Municipality. This is the 9th edition of the event, which runs through the streets of the historic center and surrounding paths, passing by monuments and cultural spaces of the town. The organization highlights that it was the first event nationwide to combine sports with the cultural aspect.
The main race, covering 10 kilometers, starts at 7:30 PM and is considered the flagship race, with moderate elevation gain and some technical sections. All routes are circular, starting and finishing at Largo de Camões. Additionally, there are races for various age categories, including an 8 km solidarity walk, under-10 and under-12 with 500 meters, under-14 with 1.5 km, under-16 with 2.5 km, and under-18 with 3.5 km.
The event also has a charitable aspect, as proceeds go to a cause supported by the Rotary Club of Ponte de Lima. Registrations are open online and close on October 5th. Participants receive a race bib, personal accident insurance, a technical t-shirt from the event, refreshments, access to showers at the Municipal Pavilion of Ponte de Lima, and a snack at the finish line. Athletes who complete the 10 km race also receive a finisher's medal.
