The Chega party presented a bill that proposes the application of a 13% VAT on fuels, representing a reduction compared to the rate currently in force. This proposal comes in a context of debate about the cost of fuels and the fiscal impact on Portuguese families.
The bill provides that the law should be in force for a period of 12 months, which may be renewed. However, the executive should proceed with the evaluation of the impact of this measure from July onwards, following a similar calendar to that established for the evaluation of the "zero VAT basket".
