Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court, made his first public statement about the case involving businessman Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master. Moraes sent a defense filing to the president of the Court, Edson Fachin, in which he states that Minister André Mendonça promoted an "unconstitutional and illegal" investigation about the messages received from Vorcaro, determining "ex officio" the performance of investigative acts in relation to a minister of the Court.
Moraes classified the action as "revenge of the allies of those who tried to end democracy and the Rule of Law and were convicted by the Supreme Federal Court." The minister denied any favoritism toward Vorcaro and stated that there are no messages from him in the report prepared about the case.
According to Moraes, the Federal Police is trying to attribute to him texts that were found in a notepad, but that were in fact not sent by him. The case will be analyzed by the STF plenary that morning.
