The Portuguese pianist Artur Pizarro will interpret the complete set of 19 piano sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart on a 1780 piano. The six recitals will take place at the Convento de São Pedro de Alcântara, in Lisbon, in September and October. This tour celebrates the 270th anniversary of the birth of the Austrian composer.
The concerts are scheduled for September 19 and 26 and October 3, 10, 17, and 24. Artur Pizarro will be the third Portuguese pianist to interpret the totality of Mozart's piano sonatas, thus joining a select group of national interpreters.
The interpretation will be made on a historical 1780 piano, which allows a more faithful approach to the sound that Mozart knew. This choice of instrument reflects the growing interest of musicians in historical performance practices.
The project represents a significant contribution to the commemoration of the bicentenary, offering the Portuguese public the opportunity to hear the complete pianistic production of one of the greatest geniuses of classical music in a carefully considered historical and interpretive context.
