Portugal is among the European countries with the most democratic setbacks, according to data from an international report on the state of freedom of expression on the continent.
The country appears among the ten that have regressed the most in terms of freedom of expression, which represents a significant regression in national democratic performance.
Despite this regression, Portugal still maintains an intermediate performance in the freedom of expression indicator, which means it is not among the worst ranked, but shows a trend of deterioration.
The report highlights growing concern about democratic regression in several European countries, with Portugal standing out negatively for the speed and magnitude of the regression in this specific domain.
