The pizzaiolo Danilo Jander Francisco Alves, 26 years old, was shot in the head by military police in Niterói on Saturday at 5:47 PM. The young man was riding his motorcycle to work along Rua Mariz e Barros, in Icaraí, when he was approached by the officers. The victim's father contests the police version, stating that Danilo was wearing a helmet, which is now at home with the bullet hole in it.
Footage from a security camera obtained by GLOBO shows the moment of the incident. In the footage, three motorcycles appear in slow-moving traffic: Danilo was riding the first motorcycle, while two military police officers rode alongside him right behind. What happens from there lasts only five seconds.
According to a witness account, Danilo was stopped and had his hands raised when the shot was fired. The video shows that Danilo slowed down, the officers approached, the first police officer sprayed a jet of pepper spray at the motorcyclist, and almost immediately, the second one fired the shot. Danilo fell from his motorcycle, shot.
About 20 minutes after the shooting, while onlookers were gathering at the scene, a fire department team arrived at the location. The approach would also have been at close range, according to other information released about the case.
