A 22-year-old young man died as a result of a collision between a scooter and a motorcycle, on Monday night, September 14, on National Road 114, in the Industrial Zone of Almeirim. The young man was in critical condition after the accident and could not survive his injuries during transport to São José Hospital, in Lisbon.
The victim was initially transported by ambulance to Alpiarça in critical condition, where he was transferred to a helicopter from the National Institute of Medical Emergency and airlifted to Lisbon. During the air medical transport, the young man did not survive the serious injuries suffered in the collision.
The young man who died resided in the Pupo area and leaves his wife, who was pregnant. The motorcycle driver, 25 years old and also a resident of Almeirim, suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident and remains hospitalized at Santarém District Hospital.
The alert for the accident was given at 10:15 PM and the rescue operations involved INEM as well as the local fire brigade.
