The prostate exam still causes fear in many men, frequently leading to incorrect or delayed diagnoses. Pedro Nogueira da Silva, a urologist, warned about this situation, emphasizing that the fear of the exam is a significant barrier to prostate cancer prevention.
According to the specialist, all men over 50 years old should consult a urologist, regardless of whether they present symptoms or have a family history of prostate cancer. This recommendation aims to ensure early detection of the disease.
The doctor warned that, due to the fear associated with the exam, many diagnoses are incorrectly missed, which can have serious consequences for men's health. Prevention and timely diagnosis are essential for effective treatment.
