The search for the 36-year-old man who disappeared at Costa Nova beach, in Ílhavo, resumed on Monday. The swimmer allegedly got into difficulty in the water while swimming in an unsupervised area of the beach.
Operations are underway at sea, with crews from the Aveiro Lifeboat Station, and on land, with elements from the Maritime Police, the SeaWatch project, and the Municipal Civil Protection Services of Ílhavo and Vagos. A Portuguese Air Force aircraft was also being deployed in the searches.
The Maritime Police Psychology Unit was activated to provide support to the victim's family during the search operations.
