AI threatens offices more than workshops. The most and least exposed professions

A new map from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) analyses 831 professions and classifies them by exposure to artificial intelligence, concluding that one in four professions shows "very high" AI exposure. The least exposed professions are those requiring physical work and manual skills — such as carpenters, masons, joiners, upholsterers, florists, and construction workers — while the most exposed are those involving information processing, data analysis, and routine administrative tasks, such as word processors (−34.4% projected employment) and telephone operators (−26%). The BLS points out, however, that high exposure does not equal disappearance: professions such as software programmers (+10.2%) and specialist nurses (+41%) have high or very high exposure but are expected to grow, because demand for their role increases more than AI replaces tasks. The main protection against AI is not in the level of education, but in the nature of the tasks that require physical presence and environmental adaptation.

Two data centers planned for Abrantes request more grid connection capacity
