The National Secretariat for Cultural Assets of the Church will promote a training course on preventive conservation, aimed at transmitting basic procedures for the care of immovable, movable and integrated heritage that is under the responsibility of parishes and in service of worship.
The course, titled "Preventive Conservation: good practices in ecclesiastical buildings," will take place in four online sessions, with trainer Eva Neves, who holds a degree in Conservation and Restoration, with specialization in Graphic Documents, from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the Nova University of Lisbon.
SNBCI aims, in a practical and concrete manner, to alert to inadequate procedures and communicate good practices for preventive conservation, identifying and resolving situations where heritage degradation results from the absence of a proactive stance.
The training is aimed at all those who have responsibilities over the Cultural Assets of the Church, namely parish priests, sacristans, sextons, churchwardens, members of economic or pastoral councils, and confraternities. The sessions will take place on September 15, 22, and 29 and October 6, between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM, with registration required through an online form.
