The case of motorcyclist Danilo Jander Francisco Alves, 26 years old, killed during a disastrous police approach in Niterói, is not isolated in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Last week, two military police officers from the 9th BPM (Rocha Miranda) became defendants for the death of Dr. Andréa Marins Dias, shot after her car was confused with another vehicle during a police operation in Cascadura, in the North Zone. The crime occurred on March 15 of this year.
According to the complaint filed by the Public Ministry, accepted by the 2nd Criminal Court of the Capital, Sergeant Major José Jorge Ferreira Dias and Second Sergeant Raphael Gomes Damasceno were searching for vehicles suspected of involvement in robberies when they began pursuing a silver Corolla Cross, which they lost sight of. Shortly after, the officers located a white Corolla Cross, belonging to the doctor, and fired the shots that resulted in her death.
