The red carpet at the 78th Emmy Awards 2026, held in Los Angeles on Monday (14th), revealed a significant shift in celebrity fashion choices. After seasons dominated by oversized volumes and looser silhouettes, this edition's looks were marked by fitted silhouettes, with special emphasis on corsets, waist structures, and dresses that contour the body.
Among the celebrities embracing this trend were Mikaela Hoover, Haley Kalil, and Caylee Cowan, whose fashion choices were captured by photographers like Amy Sussman and Lisa O'Connor. These pieces create a body-hugging construction, with the corset functioning as both a shaping device and a visual element, defining the waist area and creating contrast between the bodice and skirt.
The trend had already been observed on recent runways, appearing in different proposals ranging from the more literal, with structured corselets, to more subtle versions in dresses with marked construction. The valorization of the waist had already signaled this shift in fashion even before the awards ceremony.
The aesthetic also connects with the return of the so-called hourglass silhouette, characterized by proportional shoulders and hips with a narrow waist, which has been gaining strength again in the international fashion scene.
