Pearson and AWS: AI reinforces the value of higher education to 74%

oglobo15 September 2026 at 00:58

Pearson, the world's largest learning company, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon.com company, presented the results of the survey "AI Readiness: Building the Bridge Between Higher Education and the Labor Market in Brazil." The study analyzes how Brazilian universities, students, and employers are preparing for a labor market increasingly impacted by artificial intelligence.

In Brazil, the results reveal a strong perception about the value of higher education in the AI era. However, they also identify a gap between the speed of technological transformation, access to tools, and their application in real work situations.

The main challenge identified is transforming students' exposure to artificial intelligence into practical, responsible preparation aligned with the real needs of the labor market. The study data point to high potential, but also a clear opportunity for improvement in how AI is integrated into academic training.

The Brazilian study surveyed 500 participants, including 350 undergraduate students. The complete survey also includes employers and university representatives, providing a comprehensive view of the AI preparation landscape in the country's higher education sector.

Why this matters

The research reveals that, although Brazilians recognize the value of higher education in the AI era, there is a significant gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in the labor market. Students, universities, and employers in Brazil need to act so that AI exposure transforms into real skills, at the risk of wasting the opportunity for preparation for an increasingly automated market.
