Missing plane with five occupants in Colombia located

oglobo14 September 2026 at 22:53

Rescue teams located on Monday a small aircraft that crashed the previous day with five occupants in a mountainous region of Colombia. The Cessna T206 aircraft, with registration HK4985, had departed from the jungle town of Condoto, in the department of Chocó, bound for Bogotá, and lost contact a few minutes after takeoff.

On board the aircraft were the pilot and four members of a medical brigade from the Civil Air Patrol (PAC), a private organization that provides health services in remote areas of the country. Rescue teams managed to pinpoint the exact location of the aircraft's impact site in a high mountain area of difficult access.

Images shared by the Colombian Aerospace Force show wreckage of the fuselage on a steep mountain, which show "indications" of belonging to the crashed aircraft. The information was confirmed by the accident investigation division of the Civil Aviation Authority in a statement.

Colombian authorities have not yet reported whether there are survivors among the five occupants of the aircraft.

Why this matters

The local community and families of the five occupants — a pilot and four health professionals from a medical brigade — await news about survivors after confirmation of the crash site. The accident highlights the risks of air transport in mountainous and remote regions of Colombia, where PAC operates providing essential health services.
