Public employees of Caixa Econômica Federal participated in a public hearing at the Rio City Council on Monday (the 14th) to address changes proposed for Saúde Caixa, the health insurance plan for these workers. The issue is one of the main demands of these employees' strike, which began on the 10th.
The workers argue that the changes proposed for Saúde Caixa modify the billing structure in relation to the current agreement. For active employees, contributions would vary according to the age of the policyholder and each dependent, which would mean premium increases.
The employees explain that there is currently a percentage-based contribution with the same rate for everyone. Caixa wants to create a standard that affects salary and includes a percentage based on age.
The workers approached the City Council and asked the legislators to help them in negotiations with the bank on this issue.
