Now14 September 2026 at 22:24

The Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente (APA) is financing with one million euros a project for the requalification of the Fervença river in the city of Bragança. The investment aims at the environmental and urban rehabilitation of this riverside area.

The Polytechnic University of Bragança is also a partner in this project. The institution is located next to the right bank of the Fervença river, which will be the subject of rehabilitation intervention within the scope of this initiative.

Among the planned interventions, the construction of a walkway along the river is included. This structure will allow citizens greater proximity and enjoyment of the riverside space.

In addition to the construction component, the university will contribute scientific knowledge to the project, bringing technical and academic expertise to ensure the quality and sustainability of the interventions to be carried out.

Why this matters

The residents of Bragança directly benefit from this intervention, which aims to improve the environmental and landscape quality of the Fervença river, an important urban space in the city. The investment of one million euros represents a significant commitment to the territorial and environmental valorization of the region, also involving the academic community in the development of the project.
