A doctor without certification for obstetric ultrasounds performed 4,734 such exams in the private sector over three years. The obstetrician performed an ultrasound on a pregnant woman who ultimately gave birth to a baby with an incomplete leg. The doctor worked at the Ceraque clinic, located in Pinhal Novo. The clinic requested the suspension of the agreement with the National Health Service (SNS) precisely because it did not have doctors with the certification required by the Medical Association to perform obstetric ultrasounds. Despite the suspension of the SNS agreement, the clinic continued to serve pregnant women through health insurance.
