The Judicial Police arrested two employees from Lisbon Airport as part of 'Operation Falcon', an operation aimed at combating international drug trafficking. The two suspects were caught in the act and are now in judicial custody.
The seized drug totals 110 kilos of cocaine, a significant amount that demonstrates the scale of the trafficking operation. The authorities believe this was intended for the European market.
The cocaine arrived at Lisbon Airport through commercial flights from South America, using normal civilian air transport routes. This entry route is frequently exploited by international drug trafficking networks.
