Quaest survey commissioned by GLOBO and TV Globo, released this Monday, indicates that the majority of respondents support the adoption of an ethics code and fixed terms for Supreme Court (STF) ministers. The poll indicates that 53% of voters said they were in favor of establishing a term with a set duration for Court ministers, while the survey's margin of error is two percentage points.
The survey was conducted amid an internal crisis at the Court, which is immersed in a clash between Ministers Alexandre de Moraes and André Mendonça. This dispute between the two magistrates may have influenced the respondents' perception of the need for changes in the court's structure.
The survey also captured that 68% of respondents are in favor of "increasing requirements" for new names to reach the STF. Voters were asked about six proposals for changes to the Court, being able to answer whether they were in favor of or against each one.
