University of Évora and patrons support 81 disadvantaged students

Observador14 September 2026 at 19:41

The University of Évora awarded more than 80 scholarships to students in situations of economic hardship. This support was made possible thanks to a social fund specifically created to help disadvantaged students of the institution.

The funding was made available by 16 patrons, who voluntarily contributed to this social support program. In total, a global amount of 177,470 euros was distributed among the beneficiary students.

These scholarships are intended to help students facing financial difficulties continue their studies at the Alentejo university. The program represents a joint effort between the educational institution and the community of supporters to promote access to higher education.

Why this matters

The disadvantaged students in the Évora region directly benefit from this financial support, which can be decisive for their permanence in higher education. This program reflects the mobilization of resources from the local community to combat school dropout due to economic reasons.
