Deco Proteste alerted consumers to the income tax reduction announced by the Government, warning that many taxpayers may have to pay when they file their tax return. The consumer defense association recalls that changes in withholdings that occurred over the past two years have already caused significant impacts on income tax refunds.
According to Deco Proteste's alert, many families received smaller refunds than usual in recent years. In some cases, taxpayers who normally received money back ended up having to pay income tax, as a result of changes in withholding tables implemented by the Government.
The association recommends that taxpayers be prepared for this situation when filing their income tax return, particularly those who have already felt changes in their available income in recent years. This alert comes in the context of the tax reduction measures promised by the Government, which may have unexpected consequences at the time of annual tax settlement.
