PSD won with an absolute majority the by-elections for the Belinho Parish Assembly in Esposende, held on Sunday. The Social Democratic candidacy, led by Filipe Moreira, won 617 votes and six mandates, ending a process of instability that had been ongoing since the 2025 local elections.
The independent movement Mudança por Belinho came in second place with 401 votes and three elected members, while Unir Belinho obtained 96 votes, not electing any representatives.
After the victory, Filipe Moreira highlighted above all the team that accompanied him in the candidacy, thanking the people who decided to continue by his side after the 2025 elections. In his message published after the vote, he emphasized that it was a team made up of people close to the parish, who remained available "without games of interests."
The elected Junta president considered that the six mandates conquered represent the recognition of a "team that remained united" and the will to work for Belinho.
