The president of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, today made a positive assessment of the beginning of the new school year, guaranteeing that the opening is proceeding normally in the schools of the Region. The official ensured that teacher placements were made on time and that the overall organization of schools is properly safeguarded.
Albuquerque admitted only small occasional adjustments and slight shortages in subjects such as Portuguese, History and Philosophy, but considered that these situations do not compromise the normal functioning of the school year.
The official played down the criticism advanced by teachers' unions, minimizing the concerns raised by the teaching sector regarding the conditions for the start of the school year.
