The Sanctuary of Fátima and local hoteliers have expressed opposition to a new proposed tourist tax for the city. The two entities are thus uniting in a common position regarding this measure.
In 2018, the local authority of Fátima had already tried to institute a similar tax. At the time, the measure ended up being blocked due to the strong opposition that arose.
The previous conflict demonstrates that implementing a tourist tax in this location faces significant resistance from the main economic and religious agents in the region.
