The recorded music market grew 14% in the first half of the year, with revenues reaching 45.4 million euros. This growth represents a significant recovery of the sector after a period of contraction.
Streaming was the main driver of this value, securing the largest share of market revenues. This form of digital music consumption has been dominating the recorded music sector in recent years.
However, the market continues to be dominated by international artists, who represent the majority of sales and streams. This trend has been consistent in the Portuguese market.
Contrary to the digitalization trend, physical music sales increased 20% between January and June, showing that there is still significant demand for physical formats such as CDs and vinyl records.
