The PS leader admitted the possibility of a parliamentary inquiry commission being created to investigate the accumulated problems in the Education sector. This position arises at a time of growing political tension around the management of the Portuguese educational system.
The socialist leader lamented that the Minister of Education "dismantled" the Directorate-General for School Establishments (DGeste), the structure that coordinated teacher placement and resource management in schools. This decision is pointed out as one of the causes of the difficulties currently faced.
The crisis was exacerbated by the existence of thousands of students without school placement, which led the minister to be forced to convene the directors of educational establishments to find emergency solutions for this situation.
The PS defended that the solutions for these problems should have been found "in June or July", during the preparation phase for the start of the school year, and not left until the last moment, when students are already without places in schools.
