In Sintra, 744 students continue without school placement, according to data presented by Fenprof. The teachers' union holds the Ministry of Education responsible for the delay in assigning students to schools.
Fenprof points to what it classifies as the "dismantling" of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) as the explanation for this situation. The union states that the lack of resources and organization on the part of the ministry has contributed to the difficulties in placing students.
MECI admits to taking measures to resolve the problem. Among the solutions on the table are the opening of new classes, the reorganization of school space, and the increase in the number of students per class.
The situation particularly affects the municipality of Sintra, where almost 750 students remain unaware of which school they will be integrated into for the current academic year.
