The first edition of Duatlo Areias de São João took place on September 13th in Paderne, Albufeira, crowning Susana Alemão and Pablo González Pérez as winners of the sprint event. The event combined running and road cycling, with a five-kilometre run, twenty kilometres of cycling and a final two and a half kilometres run, including individual, age-group, club classifications and an open race with relay participation.
In the women's classification, Susana Alemão, from Clube Desportivo das Areias de São João, won with a time of 1h14m10s, just thirteen seconds ahead of Bruna Guerreiro, from Louletano Cacial, who finished in second place with 1h14m23s. Susana Simões, from Vela de Tavira, completed the women's podium with 1h21m42s. In the men's sector, Pablo González Pérez, from Vasco da Gama Atlético Clube de Sines, achieved first place with 57m56s, followed by Rúben Macedo, from Clube Desportivo das Areias de São João, with 58m13s, and João Rebelo, from Clube de Sines, with 59m17s.
By clubs, the host team won the women's classification through the performances of Susana Alemão, Ana Bárbara and Patrícia Silva. In the men's sector, Vasco da Gama Atlético Clube de Sines took first place, ahead of Clube Desportivo das Areias de São João and Louletano Cacial. In the open race, Filipa Dias and João Pedro won the women's and men's classifications respectively.
The competition was part of the Regional Championship of Algarve and Baixo Alentejo and was organised by Clube Desportivo das Areias de São João, with the support of Albufeira City Council, within the scope of Albufeira European City of Sport 2026.
