São Paulo Civil Police Denies Seal Tampering on Devices Seized in Dark Horse Case

cbn14 September 2026 at 15:28

The São Paulo Civil Police denied that any tampering occurred with the seals of the cell phones and electronic devices seized in the investigation into the Dark Horse film. According to the Public Security Secretariat, the 27 pieces of equipment were sealed at the locations of the seizures, in the presence of witnesses, and sent for forensic examination.

The equipment was seized on June 1 during an operation that executed search and seizure warrants at residences and companies linked to the Instituto Conhecer Brasil. The institute is presided over by businesswoman Karina Ferreira da Gama, producer of the Dark Horse film, a production that covers the life of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

The investigation examines suspicions related to the financing of the film production. By order of Justice Flávio Dino of the Supreme Federal Court, the case began being shared with the Federal Police.

Why this matters

The case has direct political relevance due to its involvement of former President Jair Bolsonaro and possible irregularities in the financing of the film about his biography. The transfer of the case to the Federal Police and the involvement of the Supreme Court indicate that the investigation may have significant consequences for the national political landscape, potentially affecting high-ranking figures in power.
